Non UGA Programs

UGA offers many unique programs that suit most majors for academic credit, but for students with more specific study abroad needs, UGA also provides external opportunities for students to study, intern, research, or participate in service-learning abroad. Students going on Non-UGA education abroad experiences not included on the StudyAway Portal program list will use this application to ensure Office of Global Engagement approval.

Students going on Non-UGA study abroad programs for academic credit must fill out a Transfer Credit Approval Form (TCAF) and register in a placeholder STEX 1001/1002 course in Athena prior to departure. These two steps are critical for receiving academic credit towards your UGA degree, in addition to receiving financial aid for the term. Students will consult the available courses offered by their program and have the proposed courses pre-approved in consultation with an Global Education Advisor, department heads, and their academic advisor to ensure courses transfer back to UGA.  There is a $250 TCAF fee charged to the student's account for study abroad transfer credit.

  • UNO Innsbruck

After 45 years, the UNO-Innsbruck International Summer School continues to build on many milestones, including enrolling its 10,000th student, upholding its academic excellence for more than four decades, and welcoming more and more second-generation participants to Innsbruck each year. While knowing and building on this legacy is important, our program must also keep up with the times and adapt to new student needs and inquiries. We have added new courses, invited new faculty members, improved our field trip offerings, and strengthened our "Social Engagement Track." We continuously seek to diversify our student body and to bring the "UNO-Innsbruck" opportunity to those students less commonly represented in study abroad. As a result of all these endeavors, our program remains vibrant and meaningful for our students.

  • French Honors Program

IAU offers semester, summer and January-term study abroad programs in the historic Provençal city of Aix-en-Provence, France. Located along the Mediterranean Sea, IAU allows students to experience the culture of the south of France. The mild climate, famed cuisine and the arts give the Mediterranean region a distinct feel, unique from anywhere else in the world. While the city of Aix offers access to traditional French culture in an intimate setting, it still maintains the charm and elegance of a large metropolis. The quaint town is known for its beloved painter, Paul Cézanne, who painted the surrounding rolling landscape. Local excursions during both semester and summer programs provide students with an enhanced awareness of Provençal culture while giving them a unique and unparalleled French experience.
