UGA Russian Flagship Program

The UGA Russian Flagship program is open to undergraduate students of any major interested in gaining high-level proficiency in Russian, advanced intercultural awareness, and the advantage of "Flagship certification"- a highly regarded professional distinction. The UGA Russian Flagship program is funded by The Language Flagship, a groundbreaking federal initiative designed to enable students to develop professional-level competence (ACTFL-3 Superior) in nationally strategic languages. Program coursework includes Russian language coursework at UGA, enhanced by personalized tutoring and intensive language course options; an 8-week overseas summer program in a Russian-speaking country; and an overseas Capstone year in Kazakhstan featuring specialized Flagship courses, direct enrollment courses, and a career-oriented internship. Students receive individualized advising and become part of a community of highly motivated peers, with opportunities to participate in high quality social and professional development events. The Flagship program enhances students’ competitiveness for a wide range of scholarships, career opportunities, and graduate school admissions.
