    About Dr. Laura Moreno:

Born and raised in Spain, Dr. Ramiro Moreno studied English as an undergraduate student at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She became interested in global education when she completed a year abroad in Avignon, France thanks to an Erasmus scholarship. Upon returning from France, she finished her BA in English Philology and continued her education with a MA in TESOL in Madrid, all while working at the study abroad office for the universities of Wisconsin, Indiana, and Purdue in Madrid. After graduating from her BA, she returned to France to work as a marketing and promotion assistant for a theater company during the Avignon Festival. After her first MA, she took a break from studying to work as an au-pair for a family in Ireland before becoming an international student at Purdue University, where she completed a MA in Spanish Literature and a PhD in Comparative Literature.

Before joining the team at the Office of Global Engagement at UGA, Laura taught English and French in Spain, Spanish in the USA as a TA at Purdue university, and worked as a faculty member at the University of North Georgia and the Oxford College of Emory University, teaching Spanish language, literature, and culture, conducting research and serving these institutions while broadening her education through graduate courses in Portuguese, a Teachers of Portuguese Fellowship at Middlebury Language Schools, and graduate certificates in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

As a polyglot, she enjoys learning about different cultures and languages. Apart from English, she speaks Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, and Dutch (although the last two need a strong refresher). Dr. Ramiro Moreno is also a singer, musician, and actress. She has performed internationally around Europe, in the USA, and in Taiwan. She is strongly committed to global education and works with faculty-led programs at UGA. She is excited to bring her perspective as an ex-faculty member to better support faculty in study abroad at UGA, and to use her performance and recruiting experience to collaborate with colleagues at the Office of Global Engagement on events, trainings, and communication efforts.
